The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) has called an emergency general meeting for teachers hired before August 2010 to discuss issues related to the new Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) requirement for in‑service teachers. The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. on September 18, 2026, at the conference hall of the Council of Nagaland State School Education Administration (CANSSEA) in Kohima.
ANSTA’s notice, issued by general secretary Pekinto Y. Jimo, states that the gathering will focus on concerns raised by teachers who were appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Participants will be given a forum to present their views and grievances, and the association will explore lawful and appropriate courses of action for the teaching community.
The association has emphasized the need for discipline, dignity, and mutual respect during the meeting. It urges teachers to express differing opinions respectfully, avoiding personal attacks, abusive or offensive language, unverified allegations, or intimidation. Any proposals for agitation, demonstrations, or collective action must follow proper organisational and legal procedures, and participants are cautioned against inciting violence, obstructing public functions, or damaging property.
ANSTA stresses that individuals will be personally accountable for any unlawful or defamatory conduct. No one may claim to speak or act on behalf of the association without proper authorization, and the association will not endorse or be responsible for any unauthorized or unlawful actions taken independently by participants.
The association calls on all affected teachers to attend the meeting in a spirit of unity and constructive dialogue, ensuring that their collective concerns are presented to the appropriate authorities in a responsible and lawful manner.
