Boleng, a village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district, will host the Asian Rafting Championships 2026 from 5 to 9 October, a development that is expected to raise the state’s profile in adventure sports and international tourism.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing, the MLA for Boleng, held separate high‑level meetings with key sports administrators to review the preparations for the five‑day tournament. The meetings focused on logistics and administrative support required to ensure the event runs smoothly.
In a post on X, CM Khandu highlighted the championship as an exciting opportunity to showcase Arunachal Pradesh’s spectacular rivers, natural landscapes, adventure‑sports potential and local hospitality on an international stage.
Minister Tasing, together with sports officials and leaders of sporting bodies, urged the CM to discuss the logistics and administrative support needed for the championship. He emphasized that the event would position the state as a premier destination for white‑water sports in Asia, and that the competition would feature Asia’s top paddlers racing on the Simang River—a tributary of the Siang River that flows through the Siang valley in Boleng.
