World Archery Para Champion Sheetal Devi advanced to the compound women’s individual final at the third stage of the 2026 World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad after a 145‑143 semi‑final victory over compatriot Sarita. The 19‑year‑old armless archer, the top seed, will face Kazakhstan’s second‑seeded Aizada Seidan in the final on Wednesday.
Sarita will contest the bronze medal match against China’s Wang Huiting, who eliminated world quadruple‑amputee Payal Nag in the second round. Seidan, who shot a career‑best 688, will challenge Sheetal for the gold.
Sheetal’s performance at the event underscored her form ahead of the Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, where she will defend her compound women’s individual and mixed team titles. In the qualification round she posted a season‑best 698, surpassing her own Asian record by one point and earning a 10‑point lead over the field. Her 25 tens and 26 Xs, with the X‑ring as a tie‑breaker, secured her top seed.
The competition also saw the pair of Sheetal and seasoned archer Rakesh Kumar set a new world record in compound mixed team qualification, scoring 1,400 points and improving their Paris 2024 record by one point. They also topped the seed list in the compound women’s doubles with 1,368 points. In the men’s compound individual, reigning champion Toman Kumar, seeded fourth, will play for bronze against Iraq’s Abbas Kadhim. Rakesh and Toman combined for 1,398 points, earning the top seed in the compound men’s doubles.
