Manipur Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh informed the state Assembly on Monday that police are probing an attack on three villages along the India‑Myanmar border in Kamjong district.
The militants struck Z. Choro, Namlee and Wanglee on May 7. One person was injured and 23 houses were set ablaze. The government has assessed the damage, estimating losses of more than Rs 5 crore, and has begun rebuilding the damaged homes.
Shortly after the incident, the Home Minister and several MLAs delivered relief supplies to the affected villages. The villages, located in remote areas, now have enhanced security measures following the attack.
When asked whether the Myanmar‑based Kuki National Front (B faction) was involved, the minister said the investigation is still underway and it is too early to confirm any affiliation. Separately, Manipur police, CoBRA, CRPF women personnel and RAF teams arrested eight Kuki Liberation Army cadres in a joint operation at Gampum village, Saikul Police Station, and seized a cache of arms and ammunition. The raid also uncovered an illegal KLA camp, from which seven automatic weapons were recovered.
