The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya rejected recent allegations, with Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai speaking on the party’s behalf. Shullai said the accusations were unfounded and affirmed the party’s commitment to the state’s development agenda.
Shullai argued that the media coverage of the issue was biased, noting that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Meghalaya and expressed confidence in the state’s administration. He claimed that the reporting misrepresented the situation and did not reflect the facts on the ground.
The minister highlighted several welfare initiatives the BJP is implementing, including the Ringani, Chirang, Bijolirang and Pilak schemes. He said that about 50 percent of key infrastructure projects have been completed and that the Prime Minister continues to support these efforts, reinforcing the government’s focus on development.
Members of the United Democratic Party (UDP) responded by saying the BJP’s statements did not address the core concerns raised by the opposition. They reiterated their criticism of the party’s handling of the matter and maintained that the media narrative was skewed against them.
