An awareness camp on the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013 was organized at the Dadenggre Multi‑Facility Centre in the Dadenggre C&RD Block. The event was led by the Meghalaya State Food Commission, whose chairman, DP Wahlang, inaugurated the program and highlighted the need for widespread understanding of the Act’s provisions.
Chairman Wahlang stressed that community knowledge is essential for effective implementation of food security measures, noting that informed citizens can better access the benefits promised under the NFSA. He called for coordinated efforts among local stakeholders to ensure that the Act’s objectives translate into tangible outcomes for families across the region.
Representatives from the Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, the Education Department, the PM Poshan and Mid‑Day Meal schemes, as well as members of the vigilance committee, participated in the camp. Anganwadi centres, the Dadenggre Government Secondary School, and Fair Price Shop dealers—including Rimnang Marak, Sonowar Ali, Abtus Sater, Hasmut Ali and Masidhur Islam—were also present. The dealers reported 100 percent completion of e‑KYC verification, underscoring the progress in digital enrollment.
The program was attended by several senior officials: State Social Audit Council Chairperson T Lyngwa (IAS, Retd), State Food Commission members Dr. M Tyngkan and Secretary Israel Ingty, and West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Vibhor Aggarwal. Their collective presence signaled strong governmental support for the NFSA awareness drive in Dadenggre.
