The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET‑PG 2026 on Sunday for 2,65,980 candidates across 1,111 centres in 339 cities, covering all 36 states and Union territories. The examination was successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates, out of the 2,73,096 originally scheduled.
At two iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura, Jaipur (TC Nos. 41682 and 41683), the test could not be finished for 2,445 candidates because of an internal power‑supply failure attributed to the technological partner, TCS Ltd. NBEMS has announced a re‑examination for the affected candidates at 3 p.m. on September 5, and will issue revised admit cards and venue details separately.
The board has called an immediate meeting to determine appropriate action against the partner and agency responsible for the centre infrastructure. In a statement, NBEMS expressed regret over the inconvenience and affirmed that prompt steps are being taken to provide a fair opportunity for the impacted candidates.
The nationwide exam was supported by extensive security protocols, including real‑time monitoring from a command centre in Delhi’s Dwarka, live CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar‑based candidate authentication, and deployment of 2,527 independent appraisers and over 700 senior faculty as a Flying Squad. Sixteen regional command centres and a dedicated team of 190 NBEMS and TCS personnel oversaw the operation, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to a secure and orderly conduct of the examination.
