The 10th edition of the Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, Mahavir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament will be staged from November 2 to November 10 in Kohima and Chümoukedima. Organized to mark a decade of competition in memory of the decorated Nagaland Army officer, the event seeks to honor Capt Kenguruse’s legacy while providing a high‑profile platform for the state’s footballers.
The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Spear Corps and the Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association. Additional support comes from the Kohima District Football Association and the Chümoukedima District Football Association, ensuring coordination across the two host cities.
Twenty teams are slated to compete, divided into four pools of five clubs each. Matches will take place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima and the Chümoukedima Football Stadium. The competition carries a total prize purse of ₹8.69 lakh, reflecting an increase of ₹2.22 lakh over the previous edition.
Team registration opens at 6 a.m. on September 1 and closes at 8 p.m. on September 30. The tournament will culminate with a closing ceremony on November 10. Organisers emphasize that the milestone edition aims to promote football, encourage young talent, and uphold the values of courage, dedication and sportsmanship associated with Capt Kenguruse’s memory.
