Immanuel College celebrates 32nd Freshers’ Social cum Annual Day

Immanuel College in Dimapur marked its 32nd Freshers’ Social cum Annual Day on August 29, centering the celebration on the theme “Empowering Potential, Creating Futures.” The event was held on the college campus and featured Extra Assistant Commissioner of Longleng, Imkongnukla Ao, as the special guest.

In her address, Ao urged students to recognise and explore their own potential, emphasizing focused determination toward personal goals. She cautioned against allowing external circumstances to define identity or limit achievement, and highlighted that continuous learning and self‑improvement are essential for developing talent. Ao encouraged the acquisition of diverse skills, describing each day as an opportunity for growth.

Addressing the subject of failure, Ao advised students to treat setbacks as learning experiences rather than letting them dictate their lives. She noted that failures impart lessons that success alone cannot provide. The guest also stressed the importance of good character, arguing that positions of power become meaningful when held by honest, responsible individuals. She called for hard work, a spirit of service, and kindness as lasting contributions to society.

The program’s highlight was the crowning of the 2026 Mr. and Miss Freshers. Thechano Humtsoe and Ghokivi Kinimi were awarded Miss and Mr Freshers respectively, after a keenly contested competition involving 20 participants. Additional honors included Miss Congeniality (Yangtila Y Sangtam), Mr Personality (Heinrich Rongmei), and Best Ethnic Wear awards for Loreni Ngullie (female) and Chingyan T Konyak (male).

The first session was compered by Zorah Yepthomi and Bishal Sharma, with Idohingbo Haihing delivering the welcome address. Principal Dr. Th. Sharatchandra Singh introduced and presented the programme, followed by a speech from Esho Khunghe K Konyak on behalf of the freshers. The second session was hosted by Remichon Angkang and Charles Ezung.
