Hemang Joshi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament from Vadodara, assumed the role of national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at a ceremony held at the party’s New Delhi headquarters on Monday. His appointment, announced earlier this month, marks his transition from student activism and grassroots work to a senior organisational position within the party’s youth wing.
Joshi was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vadodara in 2024 at the age of 33, making him one of Gujarat’s youngest parliamentarians. Prior to his national elevation, he served as president of the BJYM’s Gujarat unit. His political career began at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he was active in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later took on various organisational responsibilities at the grassroots level.
He completed a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in 2015 and a master’s degree in human resource management in 2016, both from Maharaja Sayajirao University. Joshi is also pursuing doctoral research on leadership, underscoring his academic engagement alongside his political duties.
The charge‑taking ceremony was attended by BJP General Secretary and BJYM national in‑charge Sunil Bansal, outgoing BJYM president and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, as well as national office‑bearers, executive members, and state presidents and general secretaries from across the country. Several former BJYM state leaders were also expected to be present.
A BJYM statement said Joshi’s organisational experience in Gujarat and his perspective as a young parliamentarian are expected to bring a fresh outlook to the youth wing’s functioning and outreach at the national level.
