Meghalaya’s Kishan Lyngdoh, Akash K Choudhary, and Arpit Bhatewara recently gained valuable first-class exposure as part of the North East Zone team in the Duleep Trophy. Despite an innings and 210-run defeat to East Zone in Bengaluru, the trio’s performance showcased their skills against a strong domestic side.
Akash Choudhary impressed with his bowling, taking 3/102 from 26 overs after opening the bowling. He also contributed a useful 27 runs at No. 10. Arpit Bhatewara made 32 runs at the top of the order, hitting four boundaries, and claimed a catch as wicketkeeper. Kishan Lyngdoh scored nine runs in the first innings and 25 runs in the second.
The match provided a challenging opportunity for the Meghalaya trio, as East Zone featured notable players such as Mohammed Shami and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. East Zone ultimately secured a comprehensive victory, posting 467 runs before dismissing North East Zone for 111 and 146 runs.
The experience gained from this match will undoubtedly benefit the Meghalaya players in their future cricket endeavors.
