In a significant anti-drug operation, Mon Police has dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking network, seizing approximately 800 grams of heroin, known locally as ‘Shan Flower’. The consignment was being transported from Mon to Sonari, Assam, and was intended to be further moved to Dimapur.
According to Mon Police, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence, leading to the arrest of three individuals - Nokteih, Poungying, and Pulei - who were allegedly responsible for sending the consignment from Mon. Their interrogation and further intelligence led to the arrest of Md. Taher Hussain, the intended receiver, near Sonari, with the assistance of Charaideo Police, Assam.
The operation continued for nearly three days, during which the entire chain - from the source in Mon to the intermediate receiver and facilitator in Sonari and the intended recipients in Dimapur - was identified and disrupted. Two women, D. Robila Roziine and Kaili Aye, who were to receive the consignment in Dimapur from Hussain, were also arrested with the assistance of Dimapur Police Commissionerate.
The operation was carried out by Mon Police under the supervision of the Director General of Police, with coordination and support from the Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF) of Assam and Nagaland, Assam Police, and Dimapur Police. The operation is expected to send a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking and related activities.
Mon Police has appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking, including financiers, mule accounts, carriers, couriers, transporters, and those involved in storage or sale. The identity of informants will be kept confidential. The police have also urged well-wishers of drug users to contact Nagaland Police through appropriate channels to disrupt the supply chain and prevent drugs from reaching them. Further investigation is ongoing.
