Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav attended the 32nd edition of Spero Meliora 2026, a literary competitive programme organised by the Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) and Dolphin Club, Kohima Village, at the Kohima Village Multipurpose Building, Ziekezou, on Saturday.
In his address, Yadav congratulated the organisers for sustaining the programme for over three decades, highlighting the significance of the motto Spero Meliora, which means ‘I hope for better things.’ He stated that hope, perseverance, and character are essential to success, and encouraged students to overcome hesitation, take initiative, and move forward with confidence.
The Governor quoted Swami Vivekananda, urging students to ‘rise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.’ He encouraged them to seize opportunities, embrace challenges, and strive for excellence, while emphasizing the importance of independent thinking, effective communication, and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Yadav commended the organisers, teachers, parents, and volunteers for nurturing the talents and character of the younger generation. He encouraged students to remain curious, read widely, and pursue their dreams with confidence, integrity, and humility, reminding them that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but also by the positive impact one makes on others.
The event was attended by Rev. Fr. Innocent Panmei SDB, principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima, who invoked blessings, and KVSU president Khriesaneikuo Kire, who delivered the vote of thanks for the morning session. A special song was presented by Pfuchazhiinuo, and the valedictory session was graced by Joint Director, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Neitho-o.
The 32nd Spero Meliora brought together students of Kohima village on a platform aimed at promoting literary skills, confidence, creativity, and intellectual growth.
