The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a Tiranga Yatra in Prayagraj on Saturday to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram. A large number of students and youth participated in the procession, carrying a 150-metre-long tricolour from the Medical Chauraha to the Subhash Chauraha.
The event aimed to promote national unity and integrity, while also emphasizing the importance of the ‘nation first’ spirit among the youth. According to the ABVP, the Yatra served as a platform to channelise the energy and potential of the youth towards constructive nation-building.
The organization believes that the youth play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future and that India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat will be strengthened when the youth’s energy is directed towards nation-building. ABVP’s Kashi region secretary Shivam Singh stated that Vande Mataram represents India’s cultural identity and spirit of patriotism, and the Tiranga Yatra seeks to inspire the youth to understand their responsibilities towards nation-building.
The event also highlighted the significance of the tricolour, which symbolises India’s unity, integrity, and national pride. ABVP’s Prayag Mahanagar secretary Prateek Mishra emphasized that the organization considers students a vital force for nation-building and works to strengthen national consciousness and social responsibility among them.
The nationwide commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875, is currently underway. The ABVP’s initiative is part of this year-long celebration, which aims to promote national unity and patriotism among the youth.
