A joint operation by the Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mizoram’s Aizawl district led to the interception of an ambulance carrying a large consignment of methamphetamine tablets worth approximately ₹45 crore. The seizure took place on Thursday in Seling, where the ambulance was stopped near Sakei Bangla Restaurant based on specific intelligence inputs. The ambulance, a Suzuki Eeco, was allegedly being used to transport 15 kg of methamphetamine tablets.
Three individuals were apprehended during the operation, including a woman who was posing as a patient inside the ambulance in an attempt to avoid suspicion while the narcotics were being transported. The 15 kg consignment of methamphetamine tablets, along with the ambulance and other incriminating materials, was seized during the operation. The apprehended individuals and the seized items were handed over to the DRI, Aizawl, for further investigation and legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The successful operation was the result of joint intelligence efforts by the DRI, Aizawl, and the Assam Rifles. The operation was carried out on August 6.
