The Department of Higher Education in Nagaland has announced the opening of registration for the Nagaland Government Ex-Gratia Scheme for Students Studying Outside Nagaland (NGESSO) for the 2026-27 academic session.
This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to the families of indigenous Naga students from Nagaland who unfortunately pass away while pursuing studies outside the state. The scheme offers an ex-gratia assistance of ₹5 lakh to the family of the deceased student.
To be eligible for the scheme, students must register with the Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland. The department has made fresh and renewal registration forms available for download on its website, along with detailed guidelines.
Students are advised to submit their registration forms by the deadline of September 30, 2026, to avail of the benefit under the NGESSO scheme.
The Nagaland Government Ex-Gratia Scheme is a significant initiative to support the families of Naga students who are pursuing higher education outside the state.
