A 36-year-old man was found hanging at his residence in Surat Nagar, Gurugram, after his wife sought a divorce, according to the police. The deceased, identified as Sanjeev Yadav, worked as an associate operator at a multinational company called Denso. He was a native of Amritsar and lived with his family in Gurugram.

The police stated that Sanjeev’s wife, Manpreet Kaur, and their seven-year-old son were the only ones at home when the incident occurred on Thursday. Manpreet immediately informed her family and Sanjeev’s parents about the suicide. However, Sanjeev’s family has raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Sanjeev’s sister, Kiran, alleged that there had been a dispute between her brother and his wife, who had sought a divorce. Kiran suspects that Manpreet might have been involved in her brother’s death, as he did not seem like someone who would commit suicide. She also found it suspicious that her brother, who weighed over 100 kg, was found hanging from a fan, and a video of the incident was recorded by his seven-year-old son.

According to the police, Sanjeev and Manpreet had a love marriage on April 29, 2018, after meeting while working at Denso in Gurugram. Manpreet quit her job after giving birth to their son in 2019. The police have detained Manpreet and launched an investigation into the incident.

Sanjeev’s father, Ramsevak Yadav, also suspects his daughter-in-law of conspiring with accomplices to murder his son. He stated that a dispute had been ongoing between Sanjeev and Manpreet for some time.

The police are investigating the incident from every angle and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Sub-inspector Mahender Singh, the investigating officer, stated that action will be taken as per the law once the report is received.
