A terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district has resulted in the death of a labourer from Chhattisgarh, with another labourer from the same state injured. The incident occurred at a brick kiln in the Kelam area of the south Kashmir district on Friday evening, according to officials. The assailants targeted the labourers at the brick kiln, leaving two injured.
Unfortunately, one of the labourers succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Deepak Ratray, while the injured labourer is 28-year-old Bopinder, both hailing from Chhattisgarh. Bopinder was initially taken to GMC Anantnag and later referred to SKIMS Hospital in Soura for further treatment, officials added.
This incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting non-local workers in the region. The attack comes less than ten days after terrorists shot and killed a police officer in Anantnag town. Additionally, two labourers were killed in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024.
On February 7, 2024, two non-local workers from Punjab, Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih, were shot dead by a terrorist in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar.
