Hyderabad’s Cybercrime Police have registered two cases against the operators of several Facebook and Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating morphed and objectionable content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests. The protests concluded earlier this month. The complaints that led to the registration of the cases were filed by BJP supporters, who alleged that morphed videos and images of the Prime Minister were circulated on social media.
The Congress is currently in power in Telangana. Meta’s India head has also been booked in the cases. The cases were registered based on complaints filed by BJP supporters.
