A trainee IPS officer, Uday Krishna Reddy, was arrested by the Hyderabad City Police’s Women’s Safety Wing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in connection with a sexual harassment case. The case was filed based on a complaint by a fellow probationary officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).
The complaint was initially registered at the Attapur police station before being transferred to the Women’s Safety Wing’s She Teams for investigation. According to an officer involved in the investigation, the accused initially evaded arrest and investigation by switching off his mobile phones and resisted arrest during apprehension.
Following his arrest, Uday Krishna Reddy was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a medical examination and is expected to be produced before a court in Rajendranagar. The arrest comes days after reports that he had allegedly attempted to end his life and was admitted to a private hospital in S.R. Nagar, where he underwent treatment.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 30-year-old married trainee IPS officer from Karnataka, who alleged that Uday Krishna Reddy repeatedly sexually harassed and assaulted her. Based on the complaint, the Attapur Police registered a case under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.
An internal inquiry committee at the National Police Academy reportedly examined CCTV footage and other evidence before concluding that the allegations had merit. The academy subsequently placed Uday Krishna Reddy under suspension pending further proceedings.
