A tragic incident occurred in Bhubaneswar on Monday, where a man allegedly strangled his wife and slit her left wrist following an altercation, before attempting to take his own life by consuming poison, according to police reports. The couple, who had been married since 2019, had been living separately for the past two years due to a dispute. On the day of the incident, the man visited his wife at her home, where an altercation broke out, leading to the violent confrontation.
According to Bhubaneswar ACP Biswaranjan Senapati, the husband strangulated his wife and slit her veins during the altercation. He then locked the house and was later found sitting in an auto-rickshaw, where he revealed to the authorities that he had consumed poison. The police immediately rushed the man to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Once he is discharged, the accused will be placed under arrest, police officials stated.
