Arunachal: Changlang Shiksha Samvaad focuses on education reform

The inaugural Changlang Shiksha Samvaad was held in Namsai, bringing together government officials, educators, civil society organisations, community representatives, and development partners to discuss collective action for improving education outcomes across Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh. The district-level gathering was hosted by the India Foundation for Education Transformation (IFET), in collaboration with Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust, under the Shikshagraha movement’s flagship dialogue platform, Shiksha Samvaad.

The event was attended by Changlang Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sah, IAS, as chief guest, and Deputy Director of School Education Rajiv Lamdok as the guest of honour. Other notable attendees included former Arunachal Pradesh minister and R.K. Memorial Society Founder-Chairperson Komli Mossang, Arunachal Orphan Care Society Founder and Chairperson Reena Longri, Diyun Zilla Parishad Member Chow Sache Singpho, Block Resource Centre Coordinators, headmasters, teachers, School Management Committee members, and representatives of civil society organisations.

Participants engaged with interactive Experience Zones that showcased children’s aspirations, stories of school transformation, and examples of collaborative action by schools and communities across Changlang district. A leadership conversation between the Deputy Commissioner and the Deputy Director of School Education focused on systemic alignment, collaborative governance, empowered schools, community participation, and shared accountability.

The programme featured two thematic panel discussions. The first, titled “Partners in Education Transformation”, brought together civil society leaders to discuss trust, shared ownership, and collaboration between government, civil society organisations, and local communities, particularly in underserved and remote areas. The second discussion, “Strengthening Alignment and Collective Accountability: Voices from the Education Ecosystem”, included Block Resource Centre Coordinators, school leaders, teachers, and School Management Committee representatives, focusing on translating policy into classroom practice through instructional leadership, teacher empowerment, community engagement, and coordinated action.

The event concluded with a collective reflection exercise in which participants recorded one key insight, one action, and one personal commitment towards improving learning outcomes. These were placed on the Changlang Commitment Wall, reflecting a shared resolve to strengthen education across the district. Organisers said the event concluded with renewed commitment among government agencies, educators, civil society organisations, community leaders, and development partners to translate dialogue into sustained action.
