The Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) and the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen food, nutrition, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in Arunachal Pradesh.
The agreement was signed in Gayaji, Bihar, under the aegis of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). The pact was signed by ArSRLM State Mission Director Sangeeta Yirang and BRLPS State Mission Director Himanshu Sharma in the presence of Union Ministry of Rural Development Joint Secretary Swati Sharma.
The partnership establishes a three-year framework for technical collaboration to reinforce food, nutrition, health, and WASH initiatives across Arunachal Pradesh. As the designated national resource organisation (NRO) for the FNHW programme, BRLPS will provide comprehensive technical assistance to the ArSRLM.
The collaboration primarily aims to strengthen community institutions promoted by the ArSRLM, such as self-help groups (SHGs), primary level federations (PLFs), and master community level federations (MCLFs). The joint initiative will build the capacities of community cadres and promote improved food security, nutrition, health, and WASH practices among rural households.
According to officials, this will be achieved through community-led approaches and convergence with various government line departments. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance institutional capacities, support sustainable behavioural change, and contribute towards building healthier, better-nourished, and resilient rural communities across Arunachal Pradesh.
