A blood donation drive held in collaboration by the Apatani Baptist Association and the blood centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital in Lower Subansiri district collected 36 units of blood on Friday.
The voluntary blood donation camp was attended by local residents who came together to give the gift of life, embodying the Christian values of love, sacrifice, and compassion. The hospital’s medical team conducted thorough screenings to ensure the safety and well-being of the participants. Although some willing donors were deferred due to medical reasons, their selflessness was appreciated by all.
The event saw men and women from various walks of life come forward to donate blood, creating an atmosphere of warmth, hope, and solidarity. The medical team reported a smooth process with no adverse donor reactions. The drive has significantly replenished the hospital’s essential reserves, securing 10 units of A+ve, 10 units of B+ve, 14 units of O+ve, and 2 units of AB+ve blood.
The initiative highlights the deeply rooted culture of health awareness and mutual care in Lower Subansiri district, where regular donors return to support their community. The collaboration between pastor Dani Tadu from the Apatani Baptist Association and the healthcare professionals at Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital was instrumental in the success of the event.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and medical staff who contributed to the event’s success.
