Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja has called upon Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of concerned districts to expedite the creation of four new municipalities in Ziro, Namsai, Aalo, and Tawang. The minister urged the DCs to complete the necessary formalities by August 15, ensuring the process is completed in a time-bound manner. Minister Raja made the remarks while chairing a review meeting on Wednesday to assess the progress of the proposed municipalities.
He emphasized the importance of public participation and consensus-building in the process. The minister directed the DCs to undertake public consultations and take all stakeholders into confidence before finalizing the proposals. The establishment of these municipalities is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening urban governance, improving civic service delivery, and facilitating planned and sustainable urban development in Arunachal Pradesh’s emerging urban centers.
The minister’s advisor-cum-MLA, Techi Kaso, Urban Affairs Commissioner Vivek Pandey, and Urban Local Bodies Director Hano Takka attended the meeting, along with the respective DCs and other officials. The Tawang DC joined the meeting virtually.
