Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has directed officials to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh. Chairing a review meeting at the civil secretariat in Itanagar on Thursday, Mein emphasized that infrastructure development is crucial to the government’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.
Mein instructed all executing agencies to adhere strictly to project timelines, maintain quality standards, and uphold transparency. This, he said, would ensure that the benefits of development reach the people without delay. The meeting reviewed the progress of projects being implemented under various schemes, including the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, and the Vibrant Villages Programme.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Vibrant Villages Programme, which aims to provide development opportunities to people living in frontier areas. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the highest priority to the development of border villages, recognizing them as the country’s ‘first villages’ instead of the ‘last villages’.
The state Planning Department issued directions to deputy commissioners to improve project execution and monitoring. District administrations were asked to regularly monitor the VVP portal, respond promptly to queries, and upload utilization certificates and geotagged photographs on time.
The meeting also discussed operational challenges, including frequent portal updates, duplication of data, and poor internet connectivity in remote areas. District administrations were advised to coordinate closely with the technical team of the Ministry of Home Affairs to resolve these issues in a timely manner.
The review meeting was attended by heads of executing agencies, deputy commissioners, and senior officials from various departments.
