A 28-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan lost his life in a tragic road accident in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Thursday evening. Lakshman Kumar Yadav, a resident of Birajpur village in Lawalong police station area, was riding his motorcycle when a speeding heavy vehicle collided head-on with him on the Simaria-Chatra Road.

Yadav, who was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, had returned home just seven days ago for a month-long holiday. The accident occurred while he was returning home from Simaria, and the truck involved in the collision fled the scene immediately.

The injured jawan was initially rushed to Simaria Referral Hospital, where doctors referred him to Hazaribag for further treatment. However, Yadav succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to RIMS Ranchi from Hazaribag.

The incident sparked outrage among locals and the victim’s family members, who launched a road blockade that has continued for the last 18 hours. They are demanding a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the victim’s family.

According to Simaria police station officer-in-charge Surya Pratap Singh, the Chatra deputy commissioner has taken cognisance of the matter, and the victim’s body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to persuade the family members to lift the blockade.

Simaria circle officer Gaurav Kumar is engaged in talks with the family members to resolve the issue.
