The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) filed a police complaint on Sunday against members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, for alleged disruptions at Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and for circulating “misleading” videos during protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
On Saturday, a large group of protesters gathered on the Gurudwara premises while attempting to reach Jantar Mantar to join the anti‑CEC demonstration. Their attempts were blocked and they were detained by police. DSGMC alleges that AAP workers entered the Gurudwara, staged a protest, raised political slogans within the sacred space, and thereby violated the sanctity and religious atmosphere of the site.
A delegation of DSGMC office bearers, led by president Harmeet Singh Kalka, submitted the complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in New Delhi. The complaint includes videos of the protest inside the Gurudwara and requests that police identify and prosecute those who mobilised, organised and directed the demonstrators. It also accuses AAP leaders and MLAs of sharing distorted videos on social media that blame the Gurudwara management and of Arvind Kejriwal publicly supporting that narrative.
Kalka noted that police officers who entered the Gurudwara to detain protesters did so through a common passage used by devotees, not the main sanctum, and that they should not have worn uniforms. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma said the police were walking through a passage used by devotees before they removed shoes, and that the circulating video was shared with “malicious intent.” Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann defended the protesters’ entry, stating that Gurudwara doors are always open for shelter and condemning what he called a forced entry by BJP police.
