The Bharatiya Janata Party announced on Sunday that it will intensify protests both inside and outside the Kerala Legislative Assembly, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan over a CMRL payments case.
A recent Kerala High Court order directed the state government to register a case against Vijayan and his family on the basis of an Enforcement Directorate report. The report alleges that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited made fraudulent payments of Rs 2.78 crore to Veena T, Vijayan’s daughter, through a now-defunct company, Exalogic Solutions, under the guise of IT consultancy services. The ED’s probe and searches were conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
BJP state general secretary S. Suresh said the court’s decision was a “simultaneous blow” to both leaders, stripping them of moral authority. The party plans a series of demonstrations, including a march to the Assembly on Monday, October 12, with the slogan “Illegal Chief Minister, resign!” and a protest on October 13 against a Kerala Anti‑Social Activities (Prevention) Act case involving Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor R Sugadhan.
Additional protests are scheduled for October 14 and 16, targeting alleged corruption in Public Service Commission appointments and the forgery case against Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V. V. Rajesh. From October 15 to 31, the BJP intends to hold public meetings across the state to oppose what it calls misgovernance by the current government.
