The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) election is scheduled to take place, with the Tura constituency set to be contested by the Tura MDC and a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP candidate, state vice‑president Bernard N Marak, will represent the party in the upcoming election.
The delimitation of GHADC constituencies is being overseen by a committee chaired by Bernard N Marak, who is also a member of the National People’s Party (NPP). Deputy Chief Minister and District Council Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong has also been involved in the process. The committee is tasked with reviewing and adjusting constituency boundaries ahead of the election.
Political parties are not participating in the delimitation process itself. The committee’s proposal will be presented to the public through a hearing, allowing community members to provide input on the proposed changes.
The GHADC’s current term is drawing to a close, and the election will be held soon. The Tura MDC is prepared to contest the seats in the council, and the public is invited to attend the delimitation hearing to discuss the forthcoming election.
