The inaugural Uphill Battle Tarmac 2026 and Northeast Championship 4.6 began on Friday at Nyiro Range Road in Wokha, drawing motorsport participants from Nagaland and other parts of the Northeast. The event featured a total prize pool of Rs. 3 lakh.
Organised by the Headstrong Racing Club (HRC) of Wokha in partnership with the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC), the championship offered a five‑kilometre hill‑climb course split into two stages of three kilometres and two kilometres. Competitors raced in three categories: SUV, Below 1300cc and Open.
EAC Wokha’s Sangmou Khiamniungan attended as a special guest and officially opened the competition. He praised HRC for its perseverance in bringing the championship to fruition and acknowledged the contributions of participants and village authorities. Sangmou stressed that even fractions of a second can decide the outcome, urging drivers to maintain discipline, compete fairly, uphold sportsmanship and prioritise safety.
HRC adviser Mhao explained that the club was founded in 2023 to promote motorsport in Wokha and to provide opportunities for enthusiasts and aspiring drivers. He thanked the district administration, community organisations, sponsors, volunteers and others who supported the event. The programme was chaired by Lichithung Murry, while NAC adviser Peter Rutsa delivered the welcome address. Pastor Police Baptist Church’s N.
