Nine Nagaland Police officers departed from Police Headquarters in Kohima on Wednesday morning to begin a 2,845‑kilometre motorcycle expedition to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat. The riders, carrying the slogan “Break Free, Stay Drug‑Free,” are part of the National Motorcycle Rally that precedes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31.
The journey, which will span 21 days, will take the team through seven states—Nagaland, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. They are expected to cover the distance in 16 riding days, with scheduled rest and maintenance stops. At the flag‑off, Nagaland Director General of Police Rupin Sharma, IPS, highlighted road safety and urged the riders to exercise caution. He also noted that the motorcycles, newly procured Royal Enfield 350cc models, were specifically purchased for the expedition.
The contingent, led by ABSI Asa Chietsotsu, includes riders UBC Lezovotuo, UBC Kekhrievolie, UBC Rokosatuo, UBC Isilong Hau, Constable Agwasim Seb and UBC Libemo, with Constable‑Driver Thunjanbemo and Constable‑Mechanic Safdar Ali providing logistical and maintenance support. The Northeast riders will meet other regional contingents in Guwahati on October 9 before heading toward Gujarat.
Upon arrival in Ekta Nagar on October 27, the team will participate in combined rehearsals and other activities before joining the main Rashtriya Ekta Diwas programme on October 31, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to promote national unity and integrity.
