Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh – On October 1, authorities reported that a 25‑year‑old woman was found hanging in a house in Jamethi village, prompting a dowry‑death investigation.

The deceased, known as Rohini alias Antima, was discovered inside a room of the residence on Wednesday, Circle Officer Kunda Shiv Narayan Bais said. Police sent the body for a post‑mortem after receiving the information.

Her father, Ganga Sagar Mishra of Bishahiya under Hathigwan police station, filed a complaint alleging that his daughter married Akash Mishra in February 2025 and was subjected to dowry harassment by her in‑laws. He claimed that when the dowry demands were not met, the accused killed and hanged her to disguise the death as suicide.

Based on the complaint, Kunda police registered a dowry‑death case against Akash Mishra, his mother Manju Mishra and father Anirudh Mishra. Manju and Anirudh have been arrested, and police are working to apprehend Akash.
