A 22‑year‑old man was arrested in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, for the murder of an 18‑year‑old BSc (Nursing) student. The victim was found dead at her house in Vangannapalem village on September 22, police said.
The victim’s mother lodged a complaint, and the police initially registered a case under section 194 of BNSS for a suspicious death.
A post‑mortem examination revealed that the victim had been strangled with a wire tightened around her neck. Following this finding, the case was re‑classified under section 103(1) for murder.
Investigators discovered that the man and the victim had been in a relationship for four years and were planning to marry. After she declined to marry him because of disputes between their families, he allegedly killed her, fled, and was later apprehended. The arrest was made after he went absconding.
