Delhi Police arrested the owner of a clinical laboratory in Punjab for allegedly forging an experience certificate that was submitted in support of a U.S. visa application. The accused, Sarban Singh, who runs Joshi Clinical Laboratory in Sultanpur Lodhi, was taken into custody in Lohian Khas, Jalandhar, after an investigation prompted by a complaint received from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
The embassy notified Chanakyapuri police on March 24 that a forged document had been submitted in connection with a visa application. An FIR was filed at the Chanakyapuri police station under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The case centers on Simranjit Kaur, a 22‑year‑old resident of Kapurthala, who allegedly submitted a forged laboratory technician experience certificate purportedly issued by Joshi Clinical Laboratory.
During questioning, Kaur reportedly told investigators that Singh had prepared and supplied the certificate to her in exchange for Rs 8,000. Following the investigation, a police team raided Singh’s laboratory in Lohian Khas and arrested him.
Police recovered the computer used to forge the certificate from the laboratory. Authorities are seeking Singh’s custody for further interrogation and to recover additional evidence. Investigators are also examining the alleged conspiracy and the possible involvement of other persons in the preparation and submission of the forged documents. Further investigation is underway, police said.
