On Thursday, police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana announced the arrest of a 22‑year‑old man who is accused of murdering an 18‑year‑old nursing student. The incident was reported to the press from Hyderabad, where the police released a statement confirming the arrest.
The victim, a BSc (Nursing) student, was discovered dead at her home in Vangannapalem village on September 22. According to the mother’s complaint, authorities initially registered a case under section 194 of the BNSS, which covers suspicious deaths.
A post‑mortem examination revealed that the student had been strangled with a wire tightened around her neck. The evidence led investigators to change the charge to section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to murder. Further inquiry uncovered that the deceased and the accused had been in a relationship for four years and had planned to marry, but she declined the proposal after disputes arose between their families.
Following the killing, the accused fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. The authorities released a statement confirming his arrest and that he is now in custody.
