Seven people, including two women, were arrested by the Mangalhat police after a 24‑year‑old man was allegedly assaulted and strangled at a house in Raheempura. The victim, Sainath Singh, was killed on September 28 following a dispute over his relationship with Anisha Singh, 25. Police say Anisha had been involved with Singh for three to four years and that her husband and relatives had repeatedly warned him to cease contact. Despite the warnings, Singh allegedly continued to message her and pressured her to meet.
Investigators claim that Anisha conspired with six other accused to carry out the murder. On the day of the incident, Singh was lured to his mother’s house in Raheempura, where the group assaulted and strangled him. The case was filed following a complaint by Singh’s sister, Sony Singh, 26, from Shivlalnagar, Dhoolpet.
CCTV footage helped identify the suspects, who were apprehended on September 30. The arrested individuals are Anisha Singh, Makhan Badal Singh, 24; Akash Singh, 21; Abhishek, 23; Poojari Lakhan Singh, 33; Akshay Singh, 30; and Degan Nanditha alias Nandini, 24. Police seized six mobile phones and two two‑wheelers linked to the case.
Anisha had previously faced an NDPS Act case in 2023, while Badal Singh had eight prior cases and Lakhan Singh had two. All seven are now before a court and further investigation continues.
