The Minister of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare in Bihar, Lakhendra Paswan, publicly criticized Union Minister Chirag Paswan on September 29 after the latter expressed shame over being part of the Bihar government.
Chirag Paswan, a Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader and ally of the National Democratic Alliance, had spoken at a private event on September 26. He cited rising molestation cases involving minors in districts such as Jamui, Samastipur and Banka, claiming these incidents brought shame to the state.
In response, Lakhendra Paswan suggested that Chirag Paswan, who rarely visits Bihar, should come to the state and engage directly with its officials rather than using the media to criticize it. He urged the Union minister to focus on Bihar’s issues and promised that the state government would heed any suggestions.
Other officials also weighed in. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary defended the state’s law‑and‑order record, noting that criminal cases are being pursued and that the NDA’s zero‑tolerance policy remains in force. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav condemned the LJP’s stance, calling for accountability within the government.
