Srinagar – AAP MLA Mehraj Malik was removed from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday after he entered the well of the House to protest that he was not allowed to speak.
Malik entered the well during Question Hour, claiming that his voice was being denied. While he continued to protest, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather ordered him to leave the premises.
Earlier in the day, Malik had arrived on a bike because his security escort and driver had been withdrawn. In a post on X he said that his two PSO officers were also removed, leaving him the only MLA in the state without an escort, driver or PSOs.
Malik warned that the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat would be held responsible if anything happened to him. He said that the DGP had told him there was no threat in the state, despite removing his escort and PSOs.
