Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said the United Democratic Front (UDF) government would leave a lasting imprint on a range of development projects in Thrissur. Speaking at a reception organized by the District Congress Committee (DCC), he emphasized that the administration would protect the public’s expectations and fulfil the promises it had made.
Satheesan noted Thrissur’s crucial place in Kerala’s political map and its distinctive cultural, artistic and social heritage. He said the city would be elevated to a higher level while retaining its character, and that projects in Thrissur would bear the signature of the UDF government.
The Chief Minister pledged to keep his word, stating that the journey to take Kerala into a new era has begun and that the UDF represents a departure from conventional ways of functioning. He assured the people that their expectations would be safeguarded.
He also expressed confidence that the UDF would return to power after five years with 110 seats. The CM was visiting the DCC office for the first time after taking charge, and DCC president Joseph Tajet welcomed him by presenting a shawl.
During the golden jubilee celebrations of the Thrissur Press Club, Satheesan announced that funds had been earmarked in his first budget for the renovation of Thekkinkad Maidan. He said the aim is to transform the historic square into a world‑class public space while preserving its heritage, so that even international tourists visiting Kerala would want to see it.
