Minister M.B. Patil said on Sunday, September 27, that he would ensure that no eligible voter in Vijayapura district loses the right to vote. He made the statement in Vijayapura, emphasizing the importance of protecting voter rights.
During his visit to the Babaleshwar Assembly constituency, Patil noted that the area had reported bulk objections against the inclusion of voters by third parties. He said that if the objections are found to be false or made with wrong intentions, the government would initiate legal action against the objectors.
Patil highlighted a serious incident in Babaleshwar where 1,564 applications were submitted by only seven individuals. He pointed out that many of the names on these applications were Muslim voters, which he said was evidence of the BJP’s attempt at vote theft. He called for an immediate, impartial inquiry into how the applications were accepted and uploaded, and warned that strict legal action would follow if illegality is proven.
He stressed that the right to vote is the lifeblood of democracy and that no attempt to snatch it away, whether in Karnataka or elsewhere, should be permitted. Patil added that some bulk objectors had withdrawn their applications after fearing exposure during criminal proceedings, which he said proved their attempt to steal votes.
