A 62‑year‑old BJP member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chandrapal Singh, sustained injuries after the SUV he was travelling in skidded on the Ganga Expressway in Bulandshahr on Saturday afternoon. Singh is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi, family sources said.
A video that surfaced on social media purportedly shows the SUV making several turns before sliding toward the side of the road. According to his nephew Chunnilal, the accident occurred around 2 p.m. while the vehicle was en route from Lucknow to Ghaziabad. Three people were inside the SUV: Singh, the driver, and a gunner. Singh suffered injuries to his collarbone and four ribs. Doctors say swelling will subside in about two days, after which he will undergo surgery.
Driver Natthu Singh recalled that the incident began when one of the SUV’s rear tyres suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to skid. The driver and the gunner sustained only minor injuries.
