Keralam is integrating artificial intelligence and a digital ecosystem into its tourism sector, Minister for Tourism P.C. Vishnunadh announced on Saturday. The move aims to meet the evolving demands and preferences of modern travelers and position the state as an international experiential destination.
The minister said the goal is to offer tourists a holistic Keralam experience, moving beyond isolated destination packages. By working with stakeholders, the department is exploring how AI can make tourism operations smarter, more inclusive and sustainable, adding speed and scale in a competitive domestic and global market.
The forthcoming tourism policy will emphasize these initiatives, and the government’s decision to grant industry status to the sector is expected to accelerate progress. Plans to support tourism start‑ups and harness Kerala’s innovation ecosystem will encourage youth participation, while industry leaders are urged to provide funding and mentorship to emerging innovators.
New technologies will also improve destination and infrastructure management, with a focus on world‑class standards and barrier‑free access. The department has already launched a program to help homestays adopt technology‑driven practices, and it plans further initiatives that connect this key sector to AI and digital platforms, aligning with a vision of an integrated ecosystem that touches every life.
