A tragic incident occurred in Ajitpara village, Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of two farmers. The victims, Lalu, 40, and Krishna Kumar, 45, lost their lives after allegedly inhaling toxic gas while attempting to repair a faulty pump inside a borewell. According to Circle Officer Krishna Kumar Tripathi, Lalu descended into the borewell at around 12:45 pm to repair the water pump but soon lost consciousness due to the toxic gas.

In an attempt to rescue Lalu, Krishna Kumar, the farm owner, also went down into the borewell and lost consciousness. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and took swift action to rescue the unconscious farmers. Another farmer, equipped with oxygen, was lowered into the well to retrieve Lalu and Krishna Kumar, who were then rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts to save them, Lalu was declared dead upon examination. Krishna Kumar passed away later while undergoing treatment at the medical college. The bodies of both farmers have been sent for post-mortem examinations.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
