A 70-year-old shopkeeper was allegedly killed with a spade in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, after he refused to give goods on credit. The incident took place on Tuesday night in Narayanpur village under the Barkhera Police Station area. The victim, identified as Shripal, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a medical centre in Bareilly.
According to the police, the incident began when a man named Sunil Kumar, alias Bhola, went to Shripal’s shop on Tuesday night to buy goods on credit. When the shopkeeper refused, an argument broke out between the two. Sunil then went home and returned to the shop with his brother, Sushil, and their father, Mahendrapal Gangwar, with a spade in hand.
A row erupted again during which Sunil attacked Shripal with the spade, the police said. The blow struck Shripal on the thigh, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to the local community health centre by the police and was later referred to a higher facility in Bareilly, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police have arrested three people in connection with the killing, including Sunil Kumar, his brother Sushil, and their father Mahendrapal Gangwar. Barkhera Police Station SHO Satyendra Kumar identified the accused and confirmed their arrest.
