A brazen robbery took place in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area, where four armed men allegedly held a 56-year-old woman hostage and made off with approximately Rs 75 lakh in cash and jewellery. According to the police, the incident occurred in the E-Block locality when the woman was alone at home. The robbers, who had apparently been waiting for the woman, forced their way into her house just as she was about to leave for some work.
Two of the men waited on the apartment stairs while the others threatened the woman with a knife, tied her hands and legs, and taped her mouth. The robbers also threatened to kill her and harm her twin daughters, who run a business in Chandni Chowk. The stolen jewellery was reportedly purchased for the upcoming marriage of the woman’s daughters.
The robbers seemed to have prior knowledge of the woman’s family, including the death of her son and the whereabouts of her daughters’ workplace. The woman’s husband runs a manufacturing business in Wazirpur village. The police stated that the robbers were in the house for around 20 minutes, collecting valuables.
Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the perpetrators. A source revealed that the accused likely conducted a reconnaissance of the area before the crime. The police have filed a case of robbery at Ashok Vihar Police Station and are working to apprehend the suspects.
