In a crackdown on unauthorised construction and commercial activities in Gurugram’s DLF Phase-3, the enforcement wing of the Town and Country Planning Department sealed four buildings on Tuesday. The drive, led by District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholiya, resulted in the demolition of unauthorised construction in the stilt area of one building using bulldozers.

During the drive, unauthorised paying guest accommodations and guest houses were sealed, and a 1.5-kilometre stretch of the Right of Way (RoW) was cleared of alleged encroachments. The enforcement team inspected a ‘stilt-plus-four-storey’ building constructed on a plot of approximately 1,000 square yards, where the stilt area had been utilised for unauthorised construction.

Instead of parking, the stilt area spanning about 500 square metres had been used to construct a projector room, bar room, bedroom, drawing room, lift lobby, and additional toilets. The floor owners informed the departmental team that the builder, Jatin Arora, had developed this additional space within the stilt parking area and sold it to them, but was no longer in contact.

According to Madholiya, the stilt area cannot be enclosed and used for rooms or other activities beyond the limits prescribed by building regulations. The team demolished all such illegal enclosed structures in the stilt area using a bulldozer.

The enforcement drive is part of the department’s efforts to curb unauthorised construction and commercial activities in the area.
