A live illumination shell was discovered in an agricultural field near the CRPF campus in Jaipur on Monday, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The shell was found by a woman passing through the area, who spotted the object lying among agricultural waste in a field in the Khatiwalon Ki Dhani area under Amber police station limits. The villagers quickly informed the police control room, which led to the deployment of police and Civil Defence personnel to the site for an inspection.
Following confirmation of the presence of the explosive, a bomb disposal squad was called in to defuse the shell. The squad carefully transported the shell to a safe location away from populated areas, where it was successfully defused in the Chainpura hill area. According to Amber Station House Officer Gautam Dotasra, preliminary investigations suggest that the shell was an illumination shell, designed to light up large areas at night.
The authorities are now working to determine how the live shell ended up in the field and its origin.
