A fire at a wood-cutting shop in Shahberi, Greater Noida West, has claimed the life of one man and left another injured. According to police, the incident occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The shop, measuring 12 by 10 feet, caught fire while two people, Altamas and Aman, were sleeping inside.
The fire service team and local police quickly responded to the scene, shutting off the electricity supply before mounting a rescue operation. The two men were pulled out of the shop in an unconscious state and rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, Altamas was declared dead during treatment, while Aman was referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital for further medical care.
Fortunately, Aman is now stable, according to the police. Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar stated that both men suffered from asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation, rather than burns. The fire was brought under control using a single fire tender, despite seven being dispatched to the scene.
The fire has been completely extinguished.
