A fatal road accident occurred on the Rasra-Phephna-Ballia highway in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old motorcyclist and injuring four others, including former BJP MLA Surendra Singh.
The accident took place when an SUV, in which Singh was traveling, collided head-on with the motorcycle near Chilkahar village under the Garwar police station area. According to police, Singh was returning from a condolence programme for BSP MLA Umashankar Singh in Rasra when the incident occurred.
The motorcyclist, identified as Arshad, 40, lost his life in the accident. Singh, who was a former MLA from Bairia, stated that the SUV overturned following the collision, injuring him and the three other occupants of the vehicle.
The police have sent the body of the deceased for a post-mortem examination. Garwar police station SHO Hitesh Kumar confirmed that the injured, including Singh, have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The police are currently conducting further legal proceedings in the matter.
